Red Rain by Peter Gabriel
My apartment is officially clean, I'm happy to say. The laundry is where it is supposed to be, the coffee table has been cleared and dusted, the bath tub's been scrubbed and the floors have been swept. The only thing I didn't do yesterday was the dishes.
*glances and the kitchen sink with reluctance* Eh. They can wait until later. Today is my day for relaxing. It's back to work at 10:45 for me, but I guess it's alright. I hope I'll be able to stay awake, my bedtime has been early the last couple of days (by my standards, anyway).
Chris is okay. He just wasn't feeling well the other night. He and I talked for awhile last night/this morning. He is slowly taking a liking to NYC the longer he stays there. From the sound of it, the other guys in his classes are helping him out, which is good.
Chris is in one of the places I have always wanted to go (& so far my chances of getting there aren't very likely) so I told him he had to take pictures of anything and everything. He might go see the Statue of Liberty sometime this week.
He comes back the 23rd, but I probablly will not see him until the 24th. As a matter of fact, I told him I expected not to. When he asked why, I said "because you will have been travelling all day long and you will be tired. Go home and get some sleep first. Then come to see me."
I don't plan on going in to work that night. I have a comp day I can use so I hope I don't get in trouble for it.
I am debating upon whether or not I ought to forewarn my manager. It might be a good idea (brownie points are always nice) but I am also wondering if he'll say there's no way the schedule would work out if I weren't there to fill up a spot. I don't want to loose this job but it could easily happen. I'm still in my first 6 months of employment (it ends in August) & the policy book clearly states that a new employee can be terminated during that time for anything (pretty much). Jess was fired 9 days before hers was up because a coworker turned her in for supposedly saying "fuck" when talking to a resident yet, I have heard some veteran staff say things similar to that, if not worse, and they are able to come back to work the next day.
So, yeah. I don't know what to do. 3rd shift runs a bit differently than any other and the managers have always seemed very understanding so maybe it won't be a big deal. Or it will result in me having to reapply at the only other place that seems to hire people in this town: Wal Mart.
(*shudder* I worked there once, I would rather not repeat the experince)
Plus, job searching in general is a pain the ass. Applicatons, references, phone calls, interviews...Ugh. I'd rather not deal with it.
Well, it is 6 o'clock and I'm still in my pj's (3rd shift syndrome, don't 'cha know). Guess I should get dressed and get somethings in order before I have to leave.
Catch ya on the flip.
